3rd Women's Initiative

The Women’s Initiative was held December 6 & 7 this year and was a success.  It is always so much fun to get together with women, moms, and wives of those with bleeding disorders.  It for one is a learning experience for me just talking to these amazing ladies.  Friday night we met in the lobby to carpool to a studio called Painting with a Twist.  That is when we discovered that a Christmas parade was happening on the same street as the studio!  Parking was hard to find, so most walked which luckily was only a half-mile away.  Once there we had a fajita dinner and then started painting.  The teachers were wonderful and even played some music we all sang along to.  It was a great way to start out our program and get us ready for the sessions that the next day.

Saturday morning we started with a wonderful breakfast and coffee!  Our first speaker was Dr. Ashley Hinson from North Carolina who spoke on facts about vWD and hemophilia and how medicines work to help stop the bleed.  Two of our speakers were sponsored by HFA.  Trish talked about “Hitting a Homerun At Your Clinic Visit” and Stacey spoke on Taking Care of You, which we all need to do more of.  Octapharma brought in Martina to speak on "To Treat or Not To Treat" and Janella spoke on vWD:  What Type Are You?

Thank you, Sophia and Rhonda, of Octapharma for helping bring the funding back for this wonderful program.  We are already looking for dates for our 4th annual Women’s Initiative and got some great ideas to make the next one even better!!

Thank you to our sponsors
